Football had been played in Argentina for almost 40 years and 14 had passed since the amateur league was created. However, April 3, 1905 is a key date in the history of football.
Six teenagers, sons of Italian immigrants and residents of the working-class neighbourhood of strong Genoese ("xeneize" in dialect) identity known as La Boca, sitting on a bench in Solis park of Buenos Aires, founded the Club Atlético Boca Juniors. Unknowingly, they were creating one of the greatest clubs in the world.
At the onset, when Boca still used different kits, chance would have it that the flag of the first ship to arrive at the port of Buenos Aires would establish their definitive colours; that ship was Swedish.
