Despite the traditional lack of popularity of football in the United States, the selection, founded in 1885, is one of the oldest in the world. Two US college football teams, Christian Brothers College and St. Rose Parish, won the silver and bronze medals respectively during the 1904 Olympics (officially exhibition). The United States Football Federation was created in 1913, entering FIFA in 1915. A year earlier, in 1914, the National Challenge Cup, the nation's oldest national football club tournament, was created.
