They represented the actual Slovenia, Macedonia, Croatia, Kosovo, Bosnia Herzegovina, Serbia and Montenegro. The team had major successes over they years and won the silver medal in the London Olympics (1948).
Organising the 1948 Olympic Games was not easy. It had been only three years after the end of World War II and Europe was still in ruins. It was difficult to find a host country. The Brits accepted the challenge, although many people did not take it kindly, as they believed there were more pressing issues like reconstruction or the end of food rationing. 18 teams took part in the football competition, signalling the beginning of Eastern Europe’s dominance in football Olympics.
